detached and fragmented ... 1jun2003

Well I found me a spot way up on a hill
Away from the eight-lane run of the mill
Where I can see it all without a quota to fill
(In all this commotion, I'll be better off still)
Watching it happen is the quietest thrill
Passive and often offended
Always Detached and Fragmented

Happy at last with a particular view
Marvel at how there's never nothing that's new
Expecting a change to come from out of the blue
Hearing the lies and knowing all of it's true
Laughing but never lamented
Still I'm Detached and Fragmented

Betting the sum is more than parts of the whole
Avoiding the roads that always come with a toll
Just sitting still with an occasional stroll
Keeping the Title to my unwritten soul
Not bought but so often rented
Scratched up but not even dented
Quiet-ly I have commented
Ever Detached and Fragmented
