when i wasn't looking, lord i'm afraid that i've been found
in all night extradition on the other side of town
now i'm frozen in the headlights, i'm about to get run down
with an anxious resignation to the fate of which i'm bound

maybe i should stop and fight
maybe i'm not doing right
maybe just another night and then...

in an all night exposition though i never made a sound
in the rivers i've been swimmin', damned if i ain't gone and drowned
i forgot the admonition, "what goes up will come around"

one thing i never thought
i'd be the one whose caught
my freedom can't be bought again...
